The Brahms Mausoleum

The Brahms Mausoleum

The Brahms mausoleum is a great example of classic mausoleum architecture. The triangular pediment and Ionic columns are indicative of classical styling, although this design also features a pointed arch doorway more indicative of Gothic architecture. The elaborately carved asymmetrical doors bring a bit of Art Nouveau to the design.

The beautiful Barre granite is lovingly polished to a mirror shine for the walls, and the entablature and cornices feature a different cut and technique that provides a nice compliment to the high polish. The landscaping emphasizes the natural setting, with wide-set flagstones and numerous plants serving to soften what could otherwise be a harsh and imposing structure.
